A late-night knocking on the Judge’s door, begging for justice. A wee-hours wrestling match that lasts until dawn. Today’s Scripture lessons offer these two images as a picture of the Christian life and the endurance that’s required to persevere through troubled times. But even more compelling in both images is the picture we are given of God. He is a dependable Judge that promises to answer our cries speedily. He is the Lord who appears on our darkest night and gives a blessing – if we do not let go of Him.
