Service for the 20th Sunday after Pentecost.
Throughout Scripture, heaven is often described as a place of joyful feasting. The readings for this Sunday offer both warning and comfort. The warning is that we not disregard God’s gracious invitation — issued through Christ — to join His heavenly banquet table. The comfort is that, in Christ, death itself will be swallowed up. The feast is ready, come to the feast!
