We’ve all heard the expression that “many hands make light work”. This is just as true for our life together as God’s Church. In order to be good stewards of the Gospel, the disciples chose seven deacons to help shoulder the Church’s ministry responsibilities (Acts 6). Peter affirms this practice with his teaching on the Priesthood of All Believers (1 Peter 2). When congregations are deliberate about helping more of their people become active in serving, they mirror the kind of relationship Jesus had with His Father (John 14).
