The Athenian philosophers conceived of their gods as distant and aloof, uninterested in human affairs. Do we ever think of God in that way? Our readings for today proclaim a God who desires a relationship with each one of His earthly children. He washes us clean of sin through our baptism into Christ, and makes our hearts and minds His dwelling place through the gift of the Holy Spirit. God is always near!
