If there is a single theme running through each of today’s readings, it is this: God’s grace in our lives isĀ abundant. God’s never interested in cutting corners or taking half measures. His delight in Israel and desire to see her righteousness shine before the nations is abundant (Isaiah 62). His promise for those who revere Him is abundant blessing, pictured in our psalm as a large family gathered around a dinner table (Ps 128). Paul assures a New Testament church that the Holy Spirit has given them an abundant variety of gifts (1 Cor 12). And Jesus’ first miracle at Cana resulted in an abundance of fine wine that brought delight all his wedding guests (John 2).
