“Woe is me, for I am a man of unclean lips!” (Isaiah 6). “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” (Luke 5). Isaiah the prophet and Peter the apostle both felt so unholy and unworthy to be in God’s presence, they felt like running away. When we feel shame because of our sins, it keeps God at a distance and prevents us from experiencing the great joy of being called by Him for a holy purpose. The LORD Himself provides the solution. A cleansing fire touches Isaiah’s lips; a fishing net is miraculously filled to bursting – signs of God’s great power and abundant mercy to forgive us and change us from the inside out. Those who’ve experienced God’s deliverance will gladly say, “Here am I. Send me!”
