Tests are given to prove that something is either genuine or not. While they can be unpleasant, we recognize that they are necessary. God put Abraham’s faith to a frightful test, but also provided a sacrificial lamb for a gracious substitute. How remarkable that the Son of God himself would willingly submit to being tempted by Satan! In this way, Jesus was proven to be genuine and true, a worthy lamb for sacrifice, and our substitute.
