Jesus is our Good Shepherd. What an encouraging picture! Sheep are vulnerable creatures, whether they like to admit it or not. Jesus warns his flock to avoid thieves and hired hands who are prone to exploit or abandon those under their care. These are warnings we do well to heed today when it comes to choosing whom we follow for spiritual guidance. The words of Christ refresh and sustain us; they are like green pastures and still waters.
