Today’s readings address the painful reality of broken relationships, and the Gospel’s power to bring reconciliation. The beloved parable of the Prodigal Son features a father who eagerly desires  a reunion with his estranged son. He quickly accepts his son’s apology and restores him to an honored place in their household (Luke 15). St. Paul, in our epistle reading, calls us “ambassadors for Christ” and “ministers of reconciliation” (2 Cor 10). He reminds us that the most important relationship that needs restoring is our personal relationship with God. Jesus, by his death and resurrection, is our bridge, connecting us back to God as His forgiven and redeemed children. We worship the Lord with joy today, secure in knowing that there are no longer any divisions between us.  He welcomes us with open arms!
