As children we loved to make a game of “hide-and-go-seek”. We took pleasure in seeking out that impossible to find spot, and then squealed with glee when we were finally “found” – what fun! But there is another kind of hiding that people of all ages do that is nothing like a children’s game. We see it in the Garden of Eden after a transgression has been committed (Gen. 3). People try to hide their sin and shame away from God, hoping He won’t see. King David, no stranger to sin himself, proclaims that God is our true hiding place. He is our shield, shelter, and safe place (Ps. 32). Today, we rejoice that our Savior Jesus successfully said no to every temptation of Satan. Jesus had nothing to hide. And because of him, neither do we!
