God’s choice of the young virgin Mary to be the mother of our Lord Jesus is a reminder that God chooses “what is foolish in the world to shame the wise…and what is weak in the world to shame the strong;” (1 Cor. 1:27). God loves the lowly things and the lowly people of our world because they magnify the greatness of His power to lift up, to restore, and to redeem. “Oh come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!”
