Today is observed by many churches throughout Christendom as All Saints’ Day (actual date Nov.1). We sing “For all the saints who from their labors rest” (LSB 677:1) to celebrate that most satisfying heavenly rest promised us by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 11:28 and Hebrews 4:9, and which is enjoyed even now by our loved ones who have died in the faith. Understandably, there may be tears of sorrow on this day as we continue to mourn our losses. But in Christ, even our grieving is transformed because of the hope we have through his resurrection. Alleluia! Alleluia!
