“Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy (Isaiah 55:2)?” The LORD puzzles over our foolish choices when much better options are available to us. As human beings, we have been endowed by our Creator with the marvelous gift of reason. Yet, how quickly we’ll toss reason out the window when panic, greed, or short-sighted gratification takes over. In today’s lessons we hear God’s parental voice calling us back home for dinner. His table abounds with the spiritual food that gives real nourishment – Jesus Christ, our living bread from heaven.
