Human beings were made not just to work but also to rest. By resting we show that we value our physical health and the relationships God has blessed us with. Resting from our work is also an expression of trust that God is our ultimate provider. In today’s Gospel Jesus invites us to the spiritual rest that comes when we stop striving to win God’s favor and entrust our salvation to Jesus instead. The good works we do are the fruits of our faith in Jesus, not a substitute for it. Thank you, Jesus, for your gift of rest!
