Service for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost.
We’re all familiar with the saying, “Money talks”, which refers to the influence it often has on people and their behavior. But our money also “talks” in another sense — because what we do with it silently expresses who and what we love or fear. Jesus’ admonition to “render under Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s” is a challenge, not just to the Pharisees’ value system, but also to our own. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for providing us with treasure in heaven that nothing on earth can touch!
