For this eighth and final week, read Ecclesiastes 12:8-14. Then consider the following questions:
In this concluding chapter of the book, the Preacher is praised for being a wise leader who shared his knowledge with others (12:9). Think of someone in your life who was a wise mentor for you, and thank God for that person. Wise words are described as a “goad”, which is a cattle prod (12:11). In your experience, how is this an apt description? What simple two-part directive does the Preacher say is our “whole duty” to God (12:13)? What’s one thing you’ll take away from this study of Ecclesiastes?
THE VOICE OF JESUS — Read Psalm 1:1-2 to hear what kind of person the LORD calls “blessed”. Read Matthew 7:24-27 to hear what Jesus says about those who live by his words. Read Matthew 25:31-46 for a description of Judgment Day.
