From July 15 to 22, Pastor Dunbar and Jesse, Joey and Juliet of St Peter youth joined over thirty other people from several congregations throughout New Jersey on a mission trip to Breathitt County, Kentucky, as part of the Appalachia Service Project. They provided much-needed assistance to families whose homes were badly damaged by floods last year.
As you can see in the photos, this was not a vacation. They worked hard, digging drainage ditches, working on underpinning, building a roof and performing other hard labor. It was not easy!
But they did have time for fun, and they made many new friends as well. They also grew to know the homeowners. “I had a lot of fun, and it was a great experience for everyone,” said Juliet. She says she is excited to go back next year!
