Options for Reading:

  1. Read both readings at one sitting each day
  2. Read one in the morning, one at night.
  3. Read either the OT or Mark.
  4. Or make your own schedule. Using the Lectio Divina works better with shorter  readings. You could start at Mark 11:1  and using the headings read one section a day. That would give you about 35 readings and with a few catch-up days get you to the end of Lent.

Suggestion: Try using Lectio Divina (see back) with your reading of Mark to move you into prayer time.

PERSONAL LECTIO DIVINA

“Listening Prayer”

(You may want to journal your Lectio)

Lectio (Read)  2 minutes

Read and listen to God’s Word

“What word, phrase or person speaks to you?”

Meditatio  (Reflect)  3-4 minutes

Read the Scripture a second time

Reflect on the message  (memories, feelings)

“What is God saying to you?”

Oratio   (Respond)   4-5 minutes

Read the Scripture a third time

Let your heart “respond” to God

“What might He be calling you to do or be?”

“What do you want to say to God?”

Contemplatio  (Rest)  5-8 minutes

Read the Scripture a fourth time

Rest in God beyond concepts, feelings and particular acts

Conclude with the Lord’s Prayer and your

Personal prayer list
